The success of the leading distributor of agricultural machinery in Italy is the result of several generations of effort. Nicoló Roveda is a director of our Italian partner SAVE S.p.A. He joined the family business almost 30 years ago and has managed it for the last 25 years.

We spoke to him about his beginnings, his challenges and how he sees his collaboration with SIP.

A respectful company and well established name

I joined the company immediately after graduating from university in 1995 and took over the management of the company two years later. At that time, the company was mainly involved in tractor sales. Today, however, we focus on equipment that covers the entire demand of arable and dairy farms. We strive to represent brands with professional products, thus differentiating ourselves from cheap Italian manufacturers. Today, Roveda and company SAVE S.p.A. is a very respectful company and well established name.

Establishment of Long-lasting Partnership

When I visited SIP for the second time after seven years in 2018, I noticed a lot of positive changes. First of all, the people were very motivated, the products had been renewed and well designed, and I noticed a big investment in modernising the production and the factory. These were all positive signs for me of good cooperation in the future.

When we started working with SIP, we considered it a very important step for our company. Me, my sales and after-sales team started a project of presenting SIP products on our farms and started visits to SIP headquarters with our main dealers. We organised ourselves very well and the result was there.

A new player in Italian market

In the north and centre of Italy, the new brand has been very well accepted and has successfully replaced the previous supplier with the wide range and quality of its products. On the other hand, there was already a network of dealers and it was relatively easy to get started. Except in the southern part of Italy, where the demand is mainly for one type of machine and that is the single-rotor rake.

As you can see, our market is very diverse and we need everything from the most basic machines for alpine areas to very professional larger machines. One of SIP’s main strengths is exactly this wide range of products. This was one of the main reasons why we started working with SIP.

A SIP introduction dealer conference at family farm

In July 2019, we organised a SIP introduction conference at our family farm near Milan, because the success of a company or a brand is not built in a day. It is a question of loyalty and of doing the right thing and also having a good relationship with our dealers at all times. The respect of our partners has been earned over the decades through the professional work of two generations. We have several dealers who have been working with us for 50, 40 or 30 years and we have a very friendly relationship with many of them. This way of working is our distinctive characteristic and is the main feature that sets us apart from large corporations, where personal relationships are often lacking. That is why we host our partners on our farm, we are a family business and we are proud of it.
