The SIP grassland harvesting machines are characterised by their ease of use, unique robust construction and innovative solutions.

The SIP product range for grassland harvesting includes: disc mowers, rotary tedders, rotary rakes and pick-up rakes. All SIP machines have one thing in common and that is ROBUSTNESS. Also, all SIP machines are designed with specific user segments and needs in mind. The latter has been the main guiding principle when designing the three lines of SIP machines. The HEAVY-DUTY line is aimed at the largest agricultural plants and agricultural service providers where high machine performance is key. The ROBUST line is designed for medium and large farms and agricultural service providers who need durable and efficient machines at an excellent price-performance ratio to work on larger areas. And the AGILE line is designed for mountain farms and farms in transition areas and flatlands where manoeuvrable, lightweight and safe machines are needed.

SIP’s ROBUST line includes a wide range of SILVERCUT DISC mowers with different tractor attachment possibilities. The ROBUST range includes eight models of the SPIDER R rotary tedders. Raking technology includes a wide range of STAR R rotary rakes, as well as the front-mounted and trailed AIR pick-up rakes. The ROBUST range is also complemented by the ORION R programme of manure spreaders.

Disc mowers DISC R – Smooth enad even cut for every type of grassland

SIP’s ROBUST line includes a wide range of SILVERCUT DISC disc mowers with different tractor attachment options. With their robust design and high performance, SILVERCUT DISC mowers ensure precise mowing even in the toughest conditions, without soil and sand being introduced into the forage. The front and side mowers offer working widths of 3.0m, 3.40m and 3.80m. Double side mower combinations have working widths of 5.60m and 6.30m and triple mower combinations have working widths of 8.70m and 9.50m.

Different types of linkage for different conditions

Depending on the needs of the users and the machine combinations, the mowers are equipped with different linkages. SILVERCU DISC F front mowers offer two types of tractor couplings. There are two classic pushed linkage versions and the trailed S-FLOW linkage. The S-FLOW linkage with its hydro-pneumatic suspension system makes the mower extremely responsive to changes in the terrain. The up and down movement of the mower is thus in the range -6° to +14° and the lateral movement is in the range 28°.

SILVERCUT DISC S side mowers are equipped with a rear central linkage and a hydro-pneumatic suspension system, which ensures an even and efficient mowing action. SILVERCUT DISC C mowing combinations are available with two types of linkage which, in combination with the front mower, ensure optimum coverage. The narrow linkage is suitable for front mowers up to and including 3.0 m working width. The wide linkage is designed for front mowers larger than 3.0 m.

Integrated protection system

All ROBUST mowers are equipped as standard with the DDSS (Disc Drive Safety System), which protects the cutter bar from overloading. The CSS (Collision Safety System) also protects the cutter bar and the mower. This system is particularly effective on side rear-mounted mowers and mower combinations, as it reduces the force in the event of a collision by freely moving the cutter bar upwards and backwards, thus preventing serious injuries from happening. All mowers are also equipped with the quick blade change system QCS (Quick Change System) and additional centre slides that raise the cutting ridge slightly off the ground to prevent wear and damage.

Specialist for different grassland types

SIP’s SILVERCUT DISC mowers are available without or with three different types of conditioners. Using a conditioner results in faster wilting or drying, thus preserving nutrients and ensuring better forage quality. The shorter drying time reduces the risk of bad weather and shortens the time needed to harvest the forage. The finger conditioner with plastic (FPC) or steel (FSC) fingers damages the epidermis of leaves and stems and breaks the stems, thus allowing a faster moisture loss. A rubber roller (RRC), on the other hand, compresses the stems and opens them lengthwise, allowing rapid moisture loss. The use of a cylindrical rubber conditioner is recommended for alfalfa and clover because it does not damage the delicate leaves.

Rotary tedders SPIDER R – Diversity of models for even spread

The SPIDER R rotary tedders guarantee optimum spreading or turning of forage with their sophisticated technology, easy handling and perfect stability in operation.

Eight models of rotary tedders are included in the ROBUST line. Two models SPIDER R 455|4 and R 555|4 with four rotors and with working widths of 4.5 and 5.3m. Three six-rotors models SPIDER R 615|6, R 685|6 and R 775|6 with working widths of 6.0, 6.8 and 7.6m. A mounted and trailed version of the eight-rotors tedder SPIDER R 815|8 and R 815|8 T and a working width of 7.85m, and a mounted model SPIDER R 915|8 with eight rotors and a working width of 9.15m.

Inovative rotor design

All models in the ROBUST line are equipped with an innovative rotor design. The rotor drive consists of robust castings for the gears and gears in semi-fluid grease for quiet and quiet running. The main rotor plate is made of 4 mm thick steel with a lower reinforcment ring.

The spring tines are robustly mounted on round tubular spring tine carriers. The ends of the spring tine carriers are fitted with plastic safety pins to retain the spring tine in the event of breakage. The spring tines are of different lengths, with the inner tine being shorter than the outer tine. This prevents the tines from scraping the ground and introducing soil and sand into the forage.

All models except SPIDER R 615|6 and SPIDER R 815|8 /T, which are equipped with very small rotors, also allow the installation of curved SIP tines. These are available as an additional equipment. They are recommended for spreading wet, heavy and dense grass, as they lift the forage in two layers, thus ensuring a finer spread.

The operation of the tedder can be adjusted to the amount of forage cut by adjusting the spreading angle, which ranges from 12° to 18°. Depending on the cutting height, the spring tines can be further adjusted by adjusting the linkage height.

Optimal adaptation to the conditions

All models in the ROBUST range are equipped as standard with the fencline tedding system HS (HS- Hydraulic Steering). The system enables hydraulic steering of the wheels of the turning system. The hydraulic cylinder allows the wheels to be steered to the left or right via a one-way hydraulic connection when spreading or turning at the edges of the fields. This changes the direction of spreading away from the edge and prevents forage loss. The opposite pressure is in the hydraulic accumulator mounted on the cylinder. This system can also be used to form a swath when spreading a smaller mass of forage.

For optimum ground adaptation and even tracking of the turner, a copy wheel is available as an additional equipment. This ensures that the working height is constant throughout the spreading process. The turf is thus protected, the forage stays clean, the spring fingers have a longer life and working speed can be higher.

The rotors, equipped with large wheel dimensions, ensure an even weight distribution and reduce the pressure on the ground. The dimension of the centre pair of wheels is larger and adapted to the higher load of the machine in the centre. It also contributes to stable stowage and storage of the machine in transport position.

Smooth folding and unfolding of the machine

The hinges on the four- and six-rotor tedders consist of 2x double universal joints and 2x universal joints. On the eight-rotor tedders, the hinges consist of 2x double universal joints, 2x universal joints and a finger clutch on the outer rotors. The folding mechanism of the outer rotors in combination with the finger clutch allows 180° folding into a compact transport position.

SPIDER R 775|6 and SPIDER R 915|8 are also equipped as standard with the SMART LIFT system which automatically locks and additionally raises the outer rotors during partial lift, allowing a greater ground clearance.

Rotary rakes STAR R – The secret is in the swath!

With the single-rotor, double-rotor side delivery and central delivery STAR R rakes, forage is raked into a uniform and clean swath, allowing easy harvesting, saving time and energy. The SIP rotaryv rakes STAR R are distinguished by their innovative technologies, easy operation and excellent manoeuvrability.

Innovative technologies and outstanding performance

The modular rotor and the walking tandem chassis, together with excellent steering system, allow for higher working speeds and produce clean and even swaths. The special 3D rotor mounting allows the rotors to move freely and ensures perfect ground tracking regardless of the chassis position and a clean forage, regardless of the unevenness of the terrain. The forward-positioned centre of gravity of the tandem chassis also allows for greater responsiveness on rough terrain. This keeps the wheels close to the spring tines, thus ensuring maximum rotor stability even at higher speeds and on steep terrain.

The new STAR R rake family also offers an arc-shaped design with a higher rear frame, allowing more room for manoeuvre when passing over the swaths, even in the case of higher grass mass and larger swaths.

The flexible linkage coupled to the robust external steering mechanism allows a turning angle of ± 77.5° for perfect tractor tracking. The Y-drive of the central rakes reduces the stress on the PTO shaft, thus ensuring a longer PTO shaft life. On double-rotor side rakes, the rotors are driven by a new patented Z-drive. The innovative arrangement of the PTO shaft drive allows smaller PTO shaft angles, larger adjustment angles and higher partial lifts. This ensures longer service life and less damage to the PTO shafts, as well as excellent machine manoeuvrability.

A diverse range of models

The ROBUST line  of rotor rakes includes single-rotor rakes with working widths from 3.6 to 4.7m and double-rotor side side rakes from 6.0 to 8.6m. The working widths of the double-rotor central rakes range from 6.5 to 9.3m. So, from the nineteen models currently available in the SIP range, there is a rake to suit everyone’s needs and working conditions.

Pick-up rakes AIR – Exceptional performance and clean forage

The technology of the front and trailed AIR pick-up rakes represents a step forward in raking. With its exceptional performance it also prevents the introduction of soil and stones into the swath, thus ensuring high forage quality. The pick-up rakes are designed to gently lift the forage off the ground and place it in the swath.

Three models of AIR pick-up rakes are currently available in the SIP product range. Two front models with working widths of 3.0 and 3.5 m and the trailed pick-up rake AIR HD 900 T. The latter offers a working width of 9.0 m in the case of the central swath delivery and 7.0 m in the case of the side swath. It is characterised by its outstanding performance and ease of operation.

The nutritional value of the forage is preserved

The flexible pick-up unit with a divided central axis allows excellent adjustment as it follows the ground in a curve instead of in a straight line. This allows optimum adjustment and a clean and even swath. On the pick-up unit , the spring tines are curved in the opposite direction of travel. This gives a pulling effect, which ensures that the forage is lifted gently and quickly from the ground, preventing stones and sand from being introduced into the swath.

The pick-up unit with a smaller diameter rotor ensures a steady forage flow without turbulence and forage accumulation in front of the swath. This prevents the loss of leaves and nutrients in the forage.

Perfect adaptation to the ground

The hydropneumatic suspension system provides excellent responsiveness and even ground pressure on all types of terrain. In addition to the suspension, responsiveness is also ensured by rotating skids positioned close to the pick-up unit. These ensure high responsiveness to changes in terrain and reduce ground damage and wear on the pick-up unit. As the skids rotate freely, no dirt remains on them.

With the unique pick-up system, the investment in a pick-up rake pays off with outstanding performance and clean forage of higher nutritional value, which contributes to better yields. The machine is the perfect solution for raking all types of grassland as well as straw and crop residues.
