With advanced technology, easy operation, and perfect stability, the SIP’s SPIDER R rotary tedders from ROBUST line guarantee optimum spreading and turning of forage. They are designed to meet the needs of medium to large farms and agricultural companies as well as contractors.
The ROBUST line includes eight models of tedders, which offer working widths from 4.5 to 9.15m. Two mounted models with four rotors SPIDER R 455|4 and R 555|4 with working widths of 4.5 and 5.5 m. Three mounted models with six rotors SPIDER R 615|6, R 685|6, and R 775|6 with working widths of 6.0, 6.8 and 7.6m. A trailed and mounted version of the SPIDER R 815|8 and R 815|8 T with eight rotors and a working width of 7.85m, and a mounted model of the SPIDER R 915|8 with eight rotors and a working width of 9.15m.
Innovative rotor design
All models in the ROBUST line are equipped with an innovatively designed rotor. The rotor system consists of robust gear castings and gears in semi-fluid grease for quiet and smooth running. The supporting rotor plate is made of 4 mm thick steel with a lower ring that provides additional reinforcement to the rotor.
The spring tines are robustly mounted on round tubular spring tines holders. The ends of the holders are equipped with plastic safety pins to retain the spring tines in the event of breakage. The spring tines are of different lengths , the inner tines being shorter than the outer, which prevents the fingers from scraping the ground and introducing soil and sand into the forage.
All models except SPIDER R 615|6 and SPIDER R 815|8 /T, the latter equipped with very small rotors, allow the installation of SIP curved spring tines. These are available as an optional equipment. They are recommended for spreading wet, heavy and dense grass, as they lift the forage in two layers, thus ensuring a finer spread.
The tedder can be adjusted to the amount of forage cut by adjusting the spreading angle. Depending on the cutting height, the spring tines can be further adjusted by setting the hitch height.
Optimal adaptation to the working conditions
All models in the ROBUST line are equipped as standard with the Hydraulic Steering system (HS system), for the hydraulic steering of the wheels. When spreading or turning along the edges of the fields, the tedder can be shifted to the left or right, which changes the spreading direction away from the edge and prevents forage loss. Steering of the wheels to the left or right is provided by a hydraulic cylinder via a one-way hydraulic coupling. The opposite pressure is in the hydraulic accumulator mounted on the cylinder. This system can also be used to form a swath when spreading a smaller mass of forage.
For optimum ground adaptation and even tracking of the tedder, a copy wheel is available as an optional equipment. This ensures that the working height is constant during spreading. The turf is thus protected, the forage stays clean, the spring tines have a longer service life and the working speed of the tedder can be higher.
The rotors, equipped with larger wheel dimensions of 16×6.5-8, ensure even weight distribution and reduce pressure on the ground. The dimension of the centre pair of wheels is even larger, 16×9.5-8, and thus adapted to the higher load of the machine in the centre. This enables higher stability during transport and stable storage of the machine in transport position.
All models can be equipped with a night-swath reduction gear, available as an optional equipment.
Comfortable operation
The hinges on four- and six-rotor tedders include 2x double universal joints and 2x universal joints. On eight-rotor tedders there are 2x double universal joints, 2x universal joints and a finger clutch on the outer rotors. The folding mechanism of the outer rotors in combination with the finger clutch allows 180° folding into a compact transport position.
SPIDER R 775|6 and SPIDER R 915|8 are also equipped with the SMART LIFT system, which automatically locks and further raises the outer rotors during partial lift, allowing greater ground clearance.
Two models with four rotors
The two mounted models SPIDER R 455|4 and R 555|4 with four rotors and working widths of 4.5 and 5.3 m are the smallest representatives of the ROBUST line.
The robust construction and outstanding manoeuvrability ensure precise and even spreading on slopes or close to the edges, as well as easy transport. The hydraulic lifting of the rotors allows easy and fast folding of the machine. The tedders are operated by two 1x single-acting (1SA) hydraulic connections, one for hydraulic folding and the other for hydraulic wheel steering (HS).
The diameter of the rotor on the 455|4 model is 1.60 m. The 555|4 is equipped with a larger diameter rotor, i.e. 1.70 m, and is therefore suitable for areas where large and wet grass is being spread. The spreading or turning angle of both models can be adjusted from 14° to 18°. The weight of the tedders is around 640 kg.
Higher capacity with six rotors
High-performance six-rotor tedders ensureoptimum and even spreading or turning of forage. With multi-step adjustment of the working height and spreading angle of the rotor, the forage stays clean and the job is done quick and easy.
The SPIDER R 615|6 is equipped with smaller diameter rotors of 1.30 m, whose spreading angle can be adjusted between 16° and 20°. The weight of this model is 755 kg and the minimum tractor power required is 44kW/60HP, with a capacity of up to 6.20 ha/h. The SPIDER R 685|6 has a rotor diameter of 1.60 m with a spreading angle adjustable between 14° and 18°, a weight of 790 kg and a minimum tractor power requirement of 44kW/60HP. The largest model, SPIDER R 775|6, has a rotor diameter of 1.70 m with a spreading angle between 13° and 19°. The weight of this model is 1170 kg, the tractor power required is 60kW/80HP and the capacity is up to 8 ha/h.
All are equipped with a flexible three-point linkage with stabilisers for easy tracking to the tractor. Two 1x one-way (1EW) hydraulic connections are required to operate the tedders, one for hydraulic folding and the other for hydraulic wheel shift (HS).
The SPIDER R 775|6 is additionally equipped with the SMART LIFT system, which automatically locks and further raises the outer rotors when in partial lift, allowing a greater ground clearance. This model thus requires 1x single-acting (SA) and 1x double-acting (DA) hydraulic connection.
Perfect spreading on larger field
The ROBUST line of eight-rotor tedders offers working widths of 7.85 and 9.15m. At 7.85m working width, there are two versions available, a mounted model SPIDER R 815|8 and a trailed model SPIDER R 815|8 T. They are equipped with a three-point pivoting linkage with stabilisers for easy tractor tracking. In the trailed version, the wide-angle universal joint allows excellent tractor tracking and also a smaller turning angle. For the SPIDER R 915|8, only the mounted version is available.
The hinges for both working widths consists of 2x double universal joint, 2x universal joint and a finger clutch on the outer rotors. The universal joints and finger clutch in a solid housing ensure reliable and quiet operation and easy folding. The folding mechanism of the outer rotors in combination with the finger clutch allows 180° folding into a compact transport position. The robust rotor drive housing with gears immersed in an oil bath ensures smoother and quieter operation.
Depending on the amount of forage, the spreading angle can be set between 16° and 20° on the SPIDER R 815|8 /T and between 13° and 19° on the SPIDER R 915|8. The rotor dimension at a working width of 7.85m is 1.3m. The 9.15m working width has a rotor dimension of 1.60m, which also allows the installation of curved spring tines. The SPIDER R 915|8 is also equipped as standard with the SMART LIFT system, which automatically locks and further raises the outer rotors during partial lift, allowing greater ground clearance and easier turning passes.
The rotors are equipped with large dimension wheels to ensure even weight distribution and reduce pressure on the ground. The dimension of the centre pair of wheels is adapted to the higher load on the machine in the centre and to the stable stowage and storage of the machine in transport position.
