In the Beskydy Mountains in the Frýdek-Místek region, you will find the family farm of the Velš family. On a total of 36 hectares, they produce forage for a herd of Scottish Highland cattle and sheep with a Steyr Multi tractor and a complete SIP grassland harvesting line designed to work on hilly terrain.
They chose our machinery dealer in the Czech Republic, Navos Farm Technic, to purchase the tractor and the SIP grassland harvesting line, as they recognised their strengths in both sales and after-sales service.
In addition to the Steyr tractor, the Statek u Velšů farm also purchased a complete SIP line for hilly areas. They opted for a DISC 300 F ALP front mower, a SPIDER 455|4 tedder and a STAR 470|13 rotary rake. As part of the VelŠ family’s farmland is located on upland areas with a high slope, these machines were the best choice for their conditions, as they are lightweight models, adapted to working on sloping terrain and to working with smaller tractors.
“We work 18 hectares of land each year with SIP machines, where we have two to three mowings per season. We produce hay or haylage that we use to feed our animals. We are very satisfied with the quality of the forage, and the machines have also proved their worth in mountainous conditions, where we can now reach areas where we couldn’t go before. Maintaining the machines is very easy, as I can do everything myself, even though I am not exactly the technical type. Every machine comes with a three-year factory warranty, so I can always go to an authorised Navos Farm Technic service centre,” said the owner.
