At this year’s AGRA fair in Slovenia, we have selected a new SIP Ambassador. Ozimek Farm, a loyal user and now long-time promoter, has joined our ambassadors at home and around the world.
Ozimek Farm from Vrhtrebnje is a dairy cow breeder and milk producer. In addition to 90 dairy cows, the farm also has 15 fattening pigs and 3 breeding sows. They cultivate over 100 ha of land, of which 2/3 are meadows and 1/3 arable land, and all the forage and straw they produce is consumed on the farm.
Family farm with three generations
Ozimek Farm is a family farm in the true sense of the word, as the whole family, three generations, is involved in farming.
Darko and his wife Alenka started the dairy farm more than 30 years ago, when they switched from rearing fattening bulls and just 3 milking cows to dairy production.Their sons, Simon and Uroš, have also become enthusiastic about farming.
In addition to Darko and Alenka, Simon and his wife Teja work on the farm, while the third and youngest generation is already getting into farming. Darko and Alenka take care of the daily milking, Teja feeds the calves and Simon does the feeding and littering. Uroš goes to work, but in his spare time he enjoys helping out on the farm, especially with the machinery in the fields. Teja’s brother Sandi also helps out on the farm, where there is never a shortage of work.
Connecting with neighbouring farms
Ozimek Farm advocates linking up with other farms to reduce input costs and make better use of the investment in machinery. They share some large machines with neighbouring farms.
They use only SIP machines to harvest forage from the grassland. They have a SIP mower combination, the SILVERCUT DICS 340 F front and the SILVERCUT DICS 900 C double rear mower. SIP’s eight-rotor trailed tedder SPIDER 900|8 T. The STAR 600|20 T side rake is used for making swaths, and 3 years ago they decided to buy a STAR HD 1250|50 T H four-rotor rake. The farm also has an ORION 140 SIP manure spreader.
