Mowing combination SIP DISC A D is designed for mountain farms that need high mowing capacity with lower-power tractors.

Its lightweight yet robust construction with a center of gravity close to the tractor ensures exceptional stability and maneuverability when mowing on slopes. The mower combination will be available for the 2026 grassland harvesting season.

Continuous mowing with optimum cutter bars overlap

Three models, DISC A 720 D, A 800 D, and A 880 D, will be available in working widths of 7.12 m, 7.98 m, and 8.77 m. The minimum tractor power requirements are 74kW/100HP, 81kW/110HP and 88kW/120HP, with maximum tractor power limited to 133kW/180HP.

A combination with a 3.0 m front mower is recommended, where an excellent overlap of the cutter bars is achieved within a range of 500mm on both the left and right side. This ensures continuous mowing on slopes and curves without leaving unmown strips and at the same time saves time and energy as no additional passes are required.

Easy to mount and adjust the cutter bar relief

The cutter bar is side-mounted, and the connection to the tractor is via a 3-point hitch of Cat. II or III. The centre of gravity of the machine is as close as possible to the tractor, and the weight of the cutter bars is evenly distributed over the entire working width, ensuring safe working.

The relief of the cutter bars is adjusted by a double spring system (DSS).  There is an indicator on the hitch for the working height adjustment. The indicator is used to set the optimum cutter bar relief during mowing and to keep even pressure on the ground, ensuring a clean cut without damaging the turf.

Excellent responsiveness of the cutter bars

The driveline is via an input PTO shaft with a freewheel clutch, a central gear, a double cross-joint, and 4 V-belts.

In the event of a collision, the mowing units are protected by a separate mechanical collision safety system (CSS). Only the right or the left or both cutter bars together will swing back in the event of a collision, with an opening angle of 11°.

The large 45° angle of adjustment of the cutter bars allows the mower to adapt perfectly to uneven terrain. The cutter bars are without an inner heel. When partially raised, they are raised in sequence, first the inner part, then the outer part. This prevents the cutter bar from coming into contact with the ground and damaging the turf, which is particularly important when working on rough terrain.

The mower is equipped with a 2x single-acting hydraulic connection (2x SA), which allows the cutter bars to be hydraulically lifted separately or simultaneously via a valve. As optional equipment, electro-hydraulic separate lifting is available, which requires 1x single-acting hydraulic connection (1xSA). As optional equipment, hydraulic folding/unfolding of the side guards is available.

Simple maintenance and safe transport

With an easily accessible cutter bar, the mower is easy to maintain. The covers and cutter bar surfaces have been designed with a focus on reducing material build-up and easy cleaning. Easy storage of components when the machine is uncoupled is also ensured.

The transport height of the mowers with folded side guards is 3.00, 3.41, and 3.82 m, and the transport width is 2.78 m for all three models. Traffic safety equipment, including LED lighting and safety signs, is standard equipment.

As standard, four support legs are integrated into the hitch. This allows the mower to be unhitched in transport position anywhere and is always in the position for the correct attachment to the tractor.

FAQ: Frequently asked questions about the SIP DISC A D mower combination for mountainous terrain

Which SIP mower combination is suitable for mowing on mountainous terrain?

The SIP DISC A D mower combination is suitable for mowing on mountainous, hilly and demanding terrain. It is designed for high mowing performance with lighter tractors of lower power. Its lightweight construction, compact design and centre of gravity close to the tractor enable stable operation even on slopes.

Who is the SIP DISC A D mower combination designed for?

The SIP DISC A D mower combination is designed primarily for mountain and hill farms. As well as for users who mow on uneven, steep or demanding terrain. It is suitable for anyone who wants a wider working width, faster forage harvesting and safe operation with lower-power tractors.

Which SIP DISC A D mower combination models will be available?

Three models are available. DISC A 720 D with a working width of 7.12 m, DISC A 800 D with a working width of 7.98 m, and DISC A 880 D with a working width of 8.77 m.

What tractor power is required for the SIP DISC A D mower combination?

The required tractor power depends on the model. DISC A 720 D requires at least 74 kW or 100 HP, DISC A 800 D requires at least 81 kW or 110 HP, and DISC A 880 D requires at least 88 kW or 120 HP. The maximum permitted tractor power is 133 kW or 180 HP.

How does SIP DISC A D ensure quality mowing on slopes and in turns?

In combination with a 3.0 m front mower, the SIP DISC A D provides approximately 500 mm of overlap between the cutter bars on the left and right sides. This ensures clean and continuous mowing on slopes and in turns without leaving unmown strips.

How does the SIP DISC A D mower combination adapt to uneven terrain?

The cutter bars offer a wide adaptation angle of 45°, ensuring excellent ground following. Cutter bar flotation is adjusted with the double spring system DSS, while sequential partial lifting prevents the cutter bar from touching the ground.
